Cynthia Ann Crawford, born on February 20, 1966 was an American model, actress and television personality. In the 1990s and 1980s she was a renowned supermodel with a prominent appearance on magazines and runways as well as in fashion-related campaigns. Later, she got into acting and started a business. Her sophomore year of high school saw her receive the phone number of an apparel store in the local area regarding modeling work. Then she realized that the call was made as a prank by two of her classmates. Crawford was hired by another store the next year to model. They also had an fashion shoot. In her junior year local photographer Roger Legel, whose duties included capturing a different college student to be that week's coed in the DeKalb Nite Weekly, asked to shoot her photo for the magazine; the result was her first ever cover. [9] Her positive feedback and the image led her to begin modeling. She began her career with an agency of a smaller size. Elite Model Management bought it soon after she signed. She entered Elite's Look of the Year contest in 1983 , aged 17 and reached the national finals.
